The SEAO2-CDR project was well represented at the 4th International Conference on Carbon Dioxide Removal (ICCDR), held earlier this month in Milan, Italy.

Lotta Thaller (Kiel Institute for the World Economy), Lisa Herlicka (Kiel University), Mona Delval (Leiden University), Christopher Pearce (National Oceanography Centre) and Dr. Christine Merk (Kiel Institute for the World Economy) all presented key project findings and actively participated in discussions throughout the event.
This included involvement in the closing panel alongside partners from the UPTAKE, C-SINK and RESCUE projects, as well as representatives from new European Commission Horizon Europe projects, including OAeSIS and MAR-CO₂.
The conference also provided an excellent opportunity to exchange insights on the latest developments in marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR).
The team engaged with a range of international initiatives, including CDRmare, CSIRO’s CarbonLock, Exploring Ocean Iron Solutions (ExOIS), and Limenet.
In addition, attendees gained valuable perspectives from the newly released State of Carbon Dioxide Removal (SOCDR) report, highlighting the current status and future direction of the field.
