Members of the SEAO2-CDR team have explored the need to implement robust frameworks for marine carbon dioxide removal techniques.

The subject has been examined by Professor Christopher Pearce, National Oceanography Centre, and Dr Willem van Dorp, Uniresearch, in the first of a new series of articles with Open Access Government.

Titled ‘Navigating the sea of uncertainty around mCDR’, they explore the critical role of science-based governance in ensuring that emerging mCDR technologies are delivered responsibly and transparently.

In the coming months, members of the SEAO2-CDR project team will be tackling the subject of mCDR in more depth, shining a light on why it is so important as well as highlighting the scientific and technological advancements being made.
