The latest article in the SEAO2-CDR mCDR series in Open Access Government explores the key barriers to deploying marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) at a meaningful scale. 

Written by Frank Meisel, Jill Storey and colleagues, the article suggests that one of the primary challenges facing the sector is not technological readiness, rather a lack of reliable, long-term demand for carbon removal credits. Without strong market signals and supportive policy frameworks, developers face difficulties securing investment for large-scale projects.
